First class have had a busy first week back at school. Maths We have explored length this week. The children have had lots of fun using non standard units such as cubes and lollipop sticks to measure things around the classroom. They have also used rulers and meter sticks to measure longer things such as the length if the school sports hall! They have been introduced to estimation.
English Thisweekthe children have read the story of Timothy's Tooth. They discussed each others experiences of visiting the dentist and designed a poster of how to care for our teeth. They have been practice the skill of scanning by answering questions from the story into the their copybooks.
Irish The class have been practicing how to say if they like or dislike something.
Science We have looked at why the Beaufort Scale was created and why it is still used today.
