First class have had an exciting week as we started to prepare for celebrating Halloween.
In Maths we focused on addition and the children worked in pairs to make number sentences for target numbers within 15. We also looked at how to write numbers in words aswell as numerals.
In English we started to explore the concept of alphabetical order and also looked at words with the ff sound.
In Irish we learned how to describe various things that are found in the classroom and revised saying the days of the week.
In Religious Education the children listened to the story of Jesus and the miraculous catch of fish. They responded to the story using art and created a super display for the classroom.
In History we explored the origins of Halloween and in particular the practices of the Celts.
The children really enjoyed coming to school in their Halloween costumes and had a great day participating in a costume parade, Halloween disco, apple bobbing and lots more fun activities. I hope they enjoy their week off.
