2nd class homework & activities

28th Mar 2025

Below is a list of what we covered this week, along with some homework activities for what can be done at home to support your child's learning. Click on the links to view the sites. Even just 10 minutes per day would be so beneficial.

Maths
This week we have started the topic of Time in Maths, because we have now finished learning about 3-D Shapes. So far we have done O'clock and half past. We will be doing more on this topic next week.

  • Daily 10: Linked here, we do this every morning in our class as a maths warm up. We usually select Level 2 - Addition - 15 seconds, but feel free to explore the many other options available.
  • Wordwall time quiz: click here.

Literacy

This week we read a fictional text together called Library Lion. Ask your child about what they recall. We also practiced words with silent letters and singular and plural forms of words.

Gaeilge

Here's a quiz for our current theme of Éadaí (clothes): linked here.
Here's a quiz related to Irish colours (na dathanna), which we use very often to describe clothes: linked here.

Holy Communion
For pupils receiving their First Holy Communion in May, I encourage you to practise the "Confiteor" prayer this weekend.

Art Competitions
Just a reminder that our class entered the Marshes art competition and ALL entries are currently displayed in the Marshes. We have entered the Don Keating Easter art competition also.

Project Work

I would like all pupils to create a River Nile fact file for next week.

Congratulations to our pupils of the week, Ethan and Saule. Congratulations to Amiira for earning the writing award.
