2nd class homework and activities 04/04/25
Below is a list of what we covered this week, along with some homework activities to support your child's learning. Click on the links to view the sites. Even just 10 minutes per day would be so beneficial.
Maths
We have now finished the topic of time in maths. I will be revisiting this topic throughout the rest of the academic year to ensure that the class continue to practice telling the time.
- Daily 10: Linked here, we do this every morning in our class as a maths warm up. We usually select Level 2 - Addition - 15 seconds, but feel free to explore the many other options available.
- Wordwall time quiz: click here.
- At home: Use this clock resource to practice telling the time with your child.
Literacy
This week I would like all pupils to be able to identify the past tense verbs displayed on screen. This will tie into our grammar work this week and next week. Please click here If this is too difficult or too easy, children can change the difficulty at the top left of the screen.
Gaeilge
This week we were working on the theme of "Sa Bhaile" (at home). This pairing game is a great way to start recalling the basic vocabulary that we have learned.
Holy Communion
For pupils receiving their First Holy Communion in May, I encourage you to practise the "Confiteor" prayer this weekend. Linked here
Art Competitions
Just a reminder that our class entered the Marshes art competition and ALL entries are currently displayed in the Marshes. We have entered the Don Keating Easter art competition also.
Project Work
I would like all pupils to research 10 interesting facts about Mount Everest for next week. This will tie in with our SESE work in Geography. Please click here for a useful page to start with. Please remember to put your name on your work.
Congratulations to our pupils of the week, our Happy Phone call winner, our Writing Award winner and our Secret Walker this week.
Thank you for another great week in 2nd class,
Mr Rice
