5th class 31/01/25

Activities in 5th class this week 

Maths 

We have put a lot of effort into mastering both long multiplication and long division. The children then applied this to real world problems such as buying multiple items in a shop. Feel free to challenge them if your shopping this weekend!! 


English 

We had a big focus this week on our reading. We all have new library books and most changed their class readers. Please encourage as much reading at home as possible. It really helps to plant the seed of ideas and imagination in children. 

Irish 

We are learning how to talk about our hobbies. Using is maith liom/ ni maith liom/ is brea liom to say what we like and love. Also increasing our vocabulary to new activities such as dornálaíocht, snámh, rothaíocht (boxing swimming and cycling). Children state what they can do using "Is féidir liom".

Art

Children completed pieces of Aboriginal dot art and also tried out some sewing. 

Geography 

We learned lines of latitude and longtitude, searching out co ordinates to find places on our maps. 

Kiva 

The children learned about cyber bullying and the dangers that come with uploading content to the internet. Something extremely relevant in today's climate.
