A magical day in natureπ³π²ππ§ββοΈπ§ββοΈ
π§βοΈThe Junior and Senior Infants ditched their pencils and books for an alternative style of learning this week! We were learning OUTDOORS!
π§βοΈ We were lucky to secure an amazing visit from Liz Farham- an expert in environmental education π
π§βοΈ Liz talked to us about some of the nature and wildlife in Dundalk. We talked about animal homes and hibernation! We were mesmerised by the hedgehog, squirrel and singing robin toys which Liz brought in.
π§βοΈ We listened to Liz read us beautiful books about wildlife, 'Tidy' and ' A Tale of Two Beasts'
But our favourite story was 'A Day in Fairyland' π§π§βοΈπ§βοΈ
π§βοΈ Outside, we listened for sounds in nature and played a game where Liz pretended to cut our teachers down with a chainsaw π²πͺ
π§βοΈ We went to the field and placed tiny fairy doors under trees and decorated them to lure some fairies to school! We then made fairy pictures with fairy dust! β¨οΈπ«
π§βοΈOur final activity was a team effort, we built a shelter using sticks, pegs and tarpaulin- almost like the three little pigs! Thankfully there wasn't a big bad wolf to blow it away! πΊπ¬
π§βοΈ We absolutely had the best time outside today- learning π¨π, looking after each other π«and looking after our world π
π§βοΈ Let's do it again!π
Great job everyone π
Mrs Craven, Mr Kelly and Mrs Curren Butler
