Another Busy Week
19th Jan 2025
English
This week we delved into the story of "Silverfin-Young James Bond" this story taught us about courage, resilience and resourcefulness. We continued to work on our comprehension skills, dictionary work, worked on learning new vocabulary and continued to work on spellings. Continue to read with the children at home, well done on the efforts to date.
Maths
This week we worked on computations on the calculator. We continued to work on problem solving skills, tables, and mental maths skills. Board games such as Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders further develop mental maths skills.
Irish
We are continuing to focus on developing our oral irish skills. We have been rolling the dice to ask and answer questions in Irish. Our seanfhocal, old irish saying, this week was, "Nì hé lá na báistì lá na bpáistì" A rainy day is not a children's day.
SESE
The children have been learning about the main organs in the body the heart, brain, lungs etc. They researched the functions of these organs.
Mindfulness Workshop
We ended this week with a mindfulness workshop run by the ISPCC. The children were given strategies to reduce stress, help with concentration and improve well-being.
Other
The children attended their SEINN rehearsals this week with the main concert taking place on Thursday 23rd February at 11.30am. Parents/ Guardians are all welcome to this concert in The Redeemer Church to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
A note has been given to the children with some very exciting news on it. Please make sure to read this note more details will follow in due course.
Congratulations to Elijah on getting Pupil of the Week 👏
