First Class 14th March
14th Mar 2025
Lots of fun this week in First Class. We welcomed visitors from Guidedogs Ireland, some of the children attended the launch of the Cooking Club and we practiced our Céilí dancing!
Maths
Our topic this week has been Money. The children have been doing lots of practical activities to help with coin recognition. They were given a target price and worked to make that amount using different coins. Practicing this at home would help reinforce their learning. How many different ways can you make 17c? They have had fun working on their mental maths skills through a variety of computer games. The focus for this week's Fridays test was doubles. Well done to those who aced their Friday test.
English
The children enjoyed exploring the story of 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs' this week. They made puppets and props to retell the story in their groups. We also have looked at a number of St Patricks day themed poems.
Irish
We focused on vocabulary beginning with 'L' in our lessons this week. We used spoken Irish a lot throughout the day this week for Seachtain na Gaeilge. We also designed posters for a school competition.
Religious Education
The children heard the story of the Good Shepherd and we discussed God's never ending love for us. We have been learning two new prayers this week including the Act of Sorrow and Psalm 23
