First Class 27th February
27th Feb 2025
English
This week First Class have read the story of Salty the Seal. This sparked an interest in the children to find out more information about seals in the wild. Can you tell your grown up what facts we found out? The children learned what a Noun is and played some fun games to reinforce thus. Can you write a list of Nouns that you come across this weekend to earn some table points on Monday? We have been reciting the poem All About Me and created some super cool actions to put with it. Show your grown up your moves!
Maths
Our topic this week has been Place Value. We have investigated numbers using lots of practical apparatus such as lollipop sticks and cubes as well as an abacus. We have discussed the meaning of each digit in a number and the importance of ensuring its in the correct place. Can you explain to your grown up the difference between 24 and 42? Can you draw them on an abacus?
Irish
We have been playing Bingo this week to help us learn some new vocabulary including colours and body parts.
Science
As part if our topic of Sound First Class have worked in teams to create an imaginary scene and used everyday objects to create Sound effects to make it come to life. We also went on a Sound Walk around the school grounds to investigate what we could hear.
Art
We have looked at the work of artists who use clay and explored different techniques with how to use it. The children used these skills to create a clay piece of their choice.
