Fun Learning in 1st class!
23rd Sep 2024
1st class have been busy learning lots of new things and taking part in fun activities.
Maths: We sang songs, used number lines & cubes to help with addition within 15. The children counted in 2's while performing actions to help them remember.
Art: We looked at the work of Pablo Picasso and how he used shapes in his work. The children used this as the inspiration for drawing self-portraits with sugar paper and oil pastels.
History: The children completed fact files detailing their "first" moments. Some of the children brought in baby photos to share with the class.
Irish: The children learned to greet each other and introduce themselves as well as some new vocabulary beginning with "B".
Science: The children explored their 5 senses and used these to help write colour poems. We looked at the life of Helen Keller.
P.E.: The children played some traditional playground games including "Duck, Duck, Goose" and "Sun & Ice".
Literacy: We read the story of the Gingerbread Boy and created our own Gingerbread man. We wrote a recount of the story and made fairytale puppets.
