Learning History, Helping the Homeless and Mastering Maths
English
This week in our English lessons, we delved into the fascinating history of WW1, focusing on life in the trenches and some facts about WW1. The students engaged in various texts enhancing their comprehension skills and expanding their vocabulary with terms relating to WW1.We also explored pronouns, cloze procedures and tackled homophones.
Irish
In irish we explored bia, learning about the food pyramid (Pyramid an Bhia) and discussing what we ate for breakfast. "I ate cereal for breakfast" (D'ith mé gránach don bhricfeasta). The students got a taste for Italian culture and famous car during Irish this week.
Maths
Maths took a creative turn as we learnt about equivalent fractions using paper. We added fractions using common denominator. We continue to work on adding fractions and playing card games to sharpen their skills. Card games are a great way to connect , problem solve, number recognition and further develop memory skills. Why not invest in some card games with your children over the winter months. Furthering developing our maths and geometry skills, with a bit of winter magic, we made some snowflakes.
Save the Homeless Food Appeal
The children wanted to get on board with the schools appeal for food donations. They created colourful posters, blending our artistic talents with compassion.
