Weekly Update From 6th Class
This week has been full of exciting activities and learning experiences for us in 6th class. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:
Swimming and Rugby Skills:
We continued to develop our swimming and rugby skills through various drills and games. It’s great to see everyone improving and having fun!
Maths:
Our focus was on adding and subtracting numbers up to 999,999. We enhanced our mental maths strategies by splitting numbers, estimating, rounding, and using front-end estimations. Online tools like Hit the Button and Nessy.com helped us cement these concepts.
English:
We read a touching story about two refugee children's lives in Ireland. Additionally, we worked on grammar, focusing on collective nouns, and expanded our vocabulary using dictionaries and word books.
Gaeilge:
In Gaeilge, we learned about An Fómhar (Autumn) and drew Fear Bréige (scarecrows). It was a fun way to embrace the season!
SESE:
This week's SESE topics included Autumn, Nigeria - the giant of Africa- and the three main types of rocks: Sedimentary, Igneous, and Metamorphic. The children did a fantastic job researching and presenting their findings.
Congratulations to Jayden our pupil of the week.
